A natural golf swing turn that is obvious and simple can be attained with a tiny bit of imagination to enhance the feel you want in your swing. Here Alex Fortey, Founder of The Art of Simple golf shares just how to feel a safe, powerful, strain free golf swing turn..
It requires a little bit imagination but if you can understand this feel it will transform your golf swing with every single club.
Too many golfers restrict the lower body trying to create the x factor in golf. We are not meant to turn over the lower back. It’s much more effective for a safe and simple golf swing if you allow your pelvis and back to turn as one.
If you imagine you have a barbell across your shoulders.. This will allow a smooth turn in your golf swing. TO allow a full turn, you will notice you have to let your hips and knees to support a bit turn. This is what you would do naturally if you had a heavy weight across your shoulders.
So try some golf swings staying around a central point and don’t restrict. You will have better balance, power in your golf swing and consistency.
You should do what feels good for your body and style…
NOT someone else’s.
To illustrate this, I’ve put together the video you see above where I break down some of the golfing world’s greatest strikers – both past and present – so you can see this principle in action for yourself.
As you can see, all these players haven’t tried to copy anyone else’s swing. Instead, they’ve found the swing that works for them.
And if you want to find your own natural swing and unlock your full power, control, and range of motion, then you need to check out my new program, Instinctive Golf, by clicking the link in the description or going to

Do you want a perfect golf swing, or a natural swing?
http://www.darrellsgolftraining.com/t…
Have you ever thought if swing mechanics, and trying to learn the perfect golf swing, is actually a good idea.
What about hitting great golf shots?
What about hitting a fade, or draw, or hitting long and straight tee-shots.
Hitting great shots is about commanding the golf ball, and making it do what you want it to do. And that does not require a perfect golf swing.
In fact, trying to fix your swing mechanics can actually make you a lot worse.
Watch this video to discover how to make your golf swing natural and simple. Focus on hitting the shots you want and get your mind off the swing thoughts.

How to make your golf swing easy, simple and natural.
http://www.darrellsgolftraining.com
So many golfers believe that you need a perfect golf swing to play good golf. This is not true.
Instead of having a perfect swing, golfers should focus on making their swing natural and easy. This notion is not popular in modern golf instruction, with all the swing analysers, trackmans and GPS measuring every part of the swing.
However, the way your body works in any skill, like golf, is not mechanical. Your swing will be consistent and powerful if you can stop thinking about swing mechanics, and find natural ways to swing the club.
This video is Part 2 of 12 of a golf DVD called “How to Swing Free”.
It’s about keeping the weight in your arches, instead of your balls of your feet. This helps keep your swing free, easy and natural.

All instruction should be taught by feel and analogy. Someone telling you that the face is too open or open your hips or get your hands in front of whatever or any position based instruction amounts to absolute dick. Unless your brain can associate a new move to a feeling that it already knows you will struggle forever. For example if someone keeps arriving at impact with the face open they will most likely be told to either strengthen their grip or turn their hands over faster. But the easiest way for someone to do those things without even trying is tell them to try to hit the ball with the front of the club edge on. This gives the exaggeration needed to make a change and a very easy visual so you don't have to tell your body anything because it already knows what to do.

Good craic

Trying to emulate that. I'm 50 and my lower back always hurts. Thanks

100 percent spot on. Every part of our body is connected to play great golf; too bad we tend to fight our body or control to much in our swing way more often then we should.

Lovely Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you considered – Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a search on google)? It is a great one of a kind product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend finally got great results with it.

When you do this excercise you also distribute you weight over both hip sockets and internally rotate at you right hip socket in the BS and at your left in the DS, right? Or maybe more pressure at the hip socket that is rotated upon?

The x-factor restricting hip turn will do more harm to weekend golfers than good.

I swing flat footed all the time. Ball goes straight almost all the time too. The other way I dub it, or chunk it all the time. When I do hit it solid it has a vicious slice. Guess which way I swing.

How does thi work while trying to keep a straight left arm?
December 3rd, 2018 at 12:15 am
I do that move a lot but I try and feel the shaft bend when i change direction.

Interesting video, but such a rotation on the back swing is very bad for the knees, in particular for the front knee. You must allow your front foot to lift a bit and to be use as a rotation point to avoid injury on that knee, just the way you do it, naturally, in the finish, with the rear foot.

Nice idea. Thanks.

Alex,
This is an excellent 'thought drill.' I have trouble turning/releasing to a full follow through after impact – I think this will help.
It also seems quite compatible with your '3-inch backswing' idea. Thanks for keeping things simple!

Does this negate the starting of the downswing with the legs?

Hi Darrell. im 46 6"2 93 kg . started playing golf again. i practice heaps but struggle with good contact. at the driving range smaller guys hit it way further with little effort. if i could hit the ball in the middle of the club every time id be a happy man instead of hitting fat or topping. the more i practice the worse im hitting . i can do a relaxed swing but put a ball there different story or ill hit a good one but can't work out how to do it next shot. i just want to be able to hit the ball flush. Cheers from Australia. Orlando.

Darrell, give me better golf shots. To quote John Jacobs, "HE GOLF SWING has only one purpose: to deliver the head
of the club to the ball correctly, and to achieve such impact repeatedly. Many unorthodox players achieve correct impact — so long as it's repeatable, it's OK"
